Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Judy M. Taguiwalo (third row, fifth from left) welcomes chairs of ASEAN sectoral bodies, representatives of regional organizations, representatives of international and national non-government organizations (NGOs), representatives from the Republic of Korea, and child participants and mentors from the ten ASEAN Member States and the Republic of Korea during the opening ceremony of the Seventh (7th) High-Level Cross-Regional Roundtable on Violence Against Children held in Manila, Philippines on June 6.

Also present in the ceremony to give their welcome remarks were: H.E. Vongthep Arthakaivalvatee, Deputy Secretary-General for the ASCC; Madame Marta Santos Pais, United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Violence against Children (SRSG); and H.E. Jae-Shin Kim, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Philippines.

The event is being held from June 6 to 8  with the theme, “Placing Children at the Heart of the Sustainable Development Agenda: Accelerating Progress in Children’s Protection from Violence” which will highlight a Children’s Parallel Session that will allow children to voice out their concerns and promote their empowerment. ###
