Families affected by the recent fire in Banana Compound, Basas II, Barangay Zapote in Las Pinas City receive dignity kits from the Department of Social Welfare and Development-National Capital Region (DSWD-NCR) as part of the augmentation support to the local government unit (LGU).

Aside from the dignity kits, DSWD-NCR also provided 300 pieces of food packs, each containing six kilos of rice, four  cans of sardines, two cans of corned beef, and six  sachets of 3-in-1 coffee;  900 pieces of bottled water; 900 sheets  of blankets; 900 pieces of cereals for baby and 300 pieces of mats.

On the night of April 8, a fire razed an estimated number of 300 houses in the area leaving hundreds of families homeless.  Most of the families are now staying in the evacuation center at Zapote Elementary School, while some opted to stay with their relatives living nearby.   ###
