Social workers from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and staff of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) were at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 this morning where they assisted the 62 overseas families or 153 individuals who arrived from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) at around 6:45 am today.
The families, composed of 57 mothers, seven fathers, and 89 children, availed of the amnesty program of KSA . Most of the children are coming home to the Philippines for the first time.
The Department has prepared meals for the families, especially for the children who might be hungry over the long flight.
As most of these families still have to travel to their hometowns, DSWD is providing P5,000 per family as food assistance and for the purchase of other basic needs for the children.
DSWD social workers interviewed and assessed the repatriates to determine their other needs and for referral to their respective local government units. ###
