The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) spearheaded yesterday the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the pilot implementation of the Strategic Helpdesks for Information, Education, Livelihood and other Developmental Interventions (SHIELD) Project.
The SHIELD Project is a model of intervention developed by DSWD Social Technology Bureau (STB) that is focused on strengthening the fight against child labor all the way down to the barangay and community level.
Signing the MOU with the DSWD represented by STB Director Thelsa P. Biolena and Protective Services Bureau Director Ma. Alicia S. Bonoan were Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Undersecretary Joel Maglunsod, Department of Education (DepEd) Undersecretary Alberto Muyot, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Director Luz Victoria G. Amponin, Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) Executive Director Patricia Luna, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) National Barangay Operations Office Director Leocadio Trovela and NGO partner organizations represented by COO Shalimar Vitan from Ban Toxics! and Ecumenical Institute for Labor Education and Research, Inc. (EILER) Director Anna Leah Escresa-Colina, witnessed by International Labour Organization Director Khalid Hassan.
The MOU signing is part of the government’s #1MBatangMalaya campaign. ###
